Riot at Ephesus

Those demonstrating against Paul gathered in the theater at Ephesus. Their chant was "Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!" A city clerk eventually convinced the crowd to disperse without incident.  

Context: Ephesus’ elegant theater could seat 24,000 people for plays, music, and religious ceremonies. It was also used for public meetings to deliberate issues, ratify actions of the city council, and issue decrees.
