Leadership Scholarship for Senior Woman Faculty or Staff at Lutheran Colleges and Seminaries

Description

* The maximum amount awarded to any recipient for this scholarship is $2000. * Recipients are eligible to reapply and receive assistance for a maximum of two years; * Women of the ELCA reserves the right to not award scholarships in any given year.

Criteria

The applicant: * must be nominated by the President of her institution; * may attend the institute of her choice providing the program includes work in governance, financial management, administration, and professional development; * must gain admission to the institute of her choice and provide written confirmation of the admission to the institute before the scholarship is disbursed; * must show that her institution is sharing the cost of the summer institute by providing financial support in a variety of ways such as transportation, staff support as necessary, etc; Additional Scholarship Committee Considerations * Preference is given to applicants who have the terminal degree in their discipline; * Preference is given to applicants with at least three years experience in teaching or administration; * Involvement of applicants in Women of the ELCA

Criteria

Pursue a degree or studies in: Theology Institution at which to use scholarship: seminary, college/university Complete an application. Submit Letter of Acceptance from the seminary, college/university which you attend. If a seminary intern, submit a copy of his/her seminary internship placement. Maintain a GPA of: 3.50 Write and submit an essay: 500 words or less (each question): Where do you see your self in 10 years? 20 years? 30 years? Describe your view of the nature and role of scripture in your ministry.

Persons eligible for scholarships are persons who intend to be or already are missionaries. One should have a heart for mission, and should be serious about full-time ministry as a missionary. It is preferred, but not required, that such a person be committed to Lutheran theology. It is primarily intended that the contemplated missionary service be outside the United States, but such missionary service may include service to immigrant or ethnic groups within the United States, and might possibly include service to unchurched people in the United States.

Opal Dancey Memorial Foundation - Master of Divinity Grants

Description

Opal Dancey Memorial Foundation exists to provide funds for seminary students to pursue their call to pulpit ministry.

The grant application must be completed online.  No hard copy applications or letters of recommendation will be accepted by the Foundation. All applicants that have not received a grant may apply again, however, they must complete a new application.

All applications must be received April 15th to be considered.  References must be completed by April 15 as well.

Criteria

Eligibility:  ?Grants are awarded for the study of a Master of Divinity degree only. No grants will be awarded for any other course of study.

To be eligible, the candidate must be a full time student and fulfill one of the following three requirements:

1. Plan to attend an accredited theological seminary located within the Great Lakes region

OR

2. Plan to attend Asbury Theological Seminary

OR

3. Be a resident of the Great Lakes region or have been a resident for at least 2 years of a Great Lakes state. In this situation the applicant can attend an accredited theological seminary outside of the Great Lakes region.
