Master of Sacred Music Program

Music is highly valued in the Church and the Lutheran theological tradition. Luther Seminary’s Master of Sacred Music (M.S.M.) program has been very influential in equipping excellent leaders of worship and music.

Given a number of factors, Luther Seminary has put the program on hold. The faculty will rethink the goals and strategy of the program and determine a possible new direction for moving worship and music forward at Luther Seminary.

Since the program is on hold, Luther Seminary is not currently accepting any applications or conducting auditions for the Master of Sacred Music program.

Contact the Office of Admissions with any questions.

Applicants must perform an audition with the seminary's Master of Sacred Music director, and with members of the St. Olaf music faculty.

Audition Dates

Friday, February 18  (application material due by February 1)
Monday, February 21 (application material due by February 1)
Monday, March 7 (application material due by February 15)

You must contact the M.S.M. office to sign up for an audition and receive the audition requirements.

All materials including the application, application fee, official transcripts, letters of recommendation, musician recommendation and autobiography/statement of faith must be received in the Admissions Office by the date specified above.

Persons wishing to apply to the MSM program who are seeking admission prior to Fall 2011 should contact the MSM office.
