On-Campus Housing Charges (2009/2010)

Rents, other charges and policies are specified below. Charges are for 2000/2010 school year.

Housing for Students Who Live Alone

Bockman Hall

   Board Plan Guidelines:

  1. Individuals occupying Bockman Hall are required to fully participate (100%) in the board plan.
  2. The board plan is planned to accommodate two 13-week semesters and one 4-week January term.
  3. Pricing structure is a la carte and declining balance.
  4. Account Balances
    1. Credit balances at the end of each term will rollover to next term within the same academic year. Balances at the end of the school year are non-refundable. Summer school is not considered a part of the academic year.
    2. Debit balances incurred during a term will be submitted to the Business Office for processing at the end of each term; therefore, debit balances will not rollover.

Summer charges for Bockman Hall (Charges effective 6/1 through 8/31)

  • Room: $70/week. No board plan.

House 18

  • $ 3,825 for 9 months ($ 425/month)
  • Single Private Room with shared kitchen and bath
  • Includes telephone with voice mail

LDR Apartments

  • Efficiency apartment $490/month
  • One-bedroom apartment $630/month
  • Rent includes heat, but not electricity or telephone.

Key and breakage deposit

  • Bockman, Stub, House 18: $ 50
  • LDR Apartments: One month's rent
  • The key and breakage deposit is payable when the housing contract is signed. The deposit is refunded when the room is vacated in a clean and undamaged condition and the keys have been returned
  • If a student has any outstanding account balance at the seminary, the refund is applied to that account.

Fee for Changing Rooms

An administrative fee of $ 50 is charged to anyone who wishes to change dorm rooms during the contract year. This fee must be paid at the time the new contract is signed and before keys are issued.

Payment Schedule

  • Payment of rent for Bockman and House 18 is due on the first day of the semester.
  • Payment of rent for LDR Apartments is due on the first day of the month.

Vacate Notification

If a student chooses to leave Luther Seminary housing during the contract period, a written 30-day notification is required. The contract period is for the academic year, September through May. Exact dates are specified on the contract.

Withdrawal

If a student withdraws from Luther Seminary the vacate date is five days after the last date of enrollment unless written permission to remain is requested and approved by the Housing Office.


Family Student Housing

Burntvedt Court Apartments

  • One-bedroom apartment (per month): $ 585
  • Two-bedroom apartment (per month): $ 690
  • Three-bedroom apartment (per month): $ 810
  • Rent does not include heat, electricity, or telephone.

Fulham Apartments

  • One-bedroom apartment (per month): $ 610
  • Not rented to families with children.
  • Rent includes heat and hot water, but not electricity, cooking gas, or telephone.

Sandgren Apartments

  • One-bedroom apartment (per month): $ 645
  • Two-bedroom apartment (per month): $ 765
  • Three-bedroom apartment (per month): $ 850
  • Rent includes heat and water.

Key and breakage deposit

  • Burntvedt, Fulham, Sandgren: One month’s rent. There is an additional $ 500 refundable deposit for a pet apartment.
  • The key and breakage deposit is payable when the housing contract is signed. The deposit is refunded when the apartment is vacated in a clean and undamaged condition and the keys have been returned.
  • If a student has an outstanding balance at the seminary, the refund is applied to that account.

Fee for Changing Apartments

An administrative fee of $ 75 is charged to anyone who wishes to change apartments. This fee must be paid at the time the new contract is signed and before keys are issued.

Payment Schedule

Apartment rents are due in the Business Office on the first day of the month. If a student is delinquent in rent payments and has not made satisfactory arrangements for payment in the Business Office, the student may lose the privilege of living in seminary housing as well as the right to register for courses.

Withdrawal

When a student chooses to leave a Luther Seminary apartment, a 30-day notice is required by the Housing Office. Middlers leaving for internship and students who graduate in May, may remain in their apartments until July 31 (a three-month period).
