Alumni Council

The purpose of the Luther Seminary Alumni Council shall be to promote the interests of the Seminary and its alumni/ae by serving as a resource for the support and communication between the alumni and Luther Seminary. The mutual goal shall be to ensure the strength, growth and financial support of the Seminary and to support and honor the ministries and vocations of our graduates.

Faithfulness in Ministry Cross Award

Identify, recognize, celebrate and give thanks for alumni, both clergy and lay, who have lived lives of Faithfulness in Ministry.

Alumni Council Accomplishments

2008 Alumni survey to gather advice to new graduates. Produced a booklet given to all graduates.
2007 Council pledges financial support for Adopt-a-Seminarian program
2006 Participated in focus groups for new strategic plan
2005 Continuation of the Culture of Encouragement initiative with the hosting of junior and middler students as future alums, and developing alumni networks with new graduates in synods of the ELCA.
2004 Pilot phase of the Culture of Encouragement initiative with hosting of senior students as future alumni.
2003 Designed and implemented extensive survey of all alumni. Established presence at the info fair during First Week.
2002 Year of Prayer for Luther Seminary alumni. God Pause daily devotions, written by alumni, established.
2000 Alumni Council is represented on the Convocation Planning Team. Honoring of Vocation chapel service is established for winter graduates.
1999 Alumni Calling Team (ACT) program begins. Alum-in-Residence becomes annual program.
1998 Mentoring pilot project for potential students. Alum-in-Residence pilot project.
1997 First-year reunion established. Affirmed the concept of developing the Garden of the Resurrection on campus.
1996 Honoring of vocation during chapel service in May for new graduates.
