General Information for Guests of Stub Hall

Computer Access

Stub Hall is wireless. The name of the network is LutherNet. A small computer lab with printer is located on the third floor and is available for guest use 24 hours a day.


Guest lounges are located on all three floors of Stub Hall. The lounge on the 3rd floor and kitchen on 2nd floor are for guest use. The 1st floor lounge and kitchen, and the Harrisville lounge on the 2nd floor are often used for meeting and classes.

Stub Hall Gym

"God's Gym", located in the basement of Stub Hall, is available for your use. Please see the Head Resident to check out a key.

Laundry Facilities

There are coin-operated laundry facilities located in the gym area. Please see the Head Resident for a key.

First Aid

A First Aid kit is located on the lower level next to God's Gym. No key entrance needed.


Free Parking is available in the lots located on either the east side of Stub Hall, the west side of the Olson Campus Center, or south of Gullixson Hall. Street parking is allowed on the seminary side only of the residential streets. Parking in front of houses may result in the city of St. Paul ticketing and towing your vehicle.

Seminary Services


A public fax machine is located at the Information Desk in the Olson Campus Center. Faxing is free. The fax number at this location is 651-523-1609. Incoming faxes from outside the United States will need to 01-651-521-1609.

Campus Mail

The mail center on campus processes outgoing U.S. mail, it does not sell postage or special mail services. However, the Information Desk does sell US postage stamps. There is a US Post Office within an easy walk of the Olson Campus Center at 2286 Como Avenue.

Dining Services

On-campus dining, located in Olson Campus Center, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner during the school year when regular classes are in session. (Services are varied in the summer months and holidays.) Dining Services hours are posted on the entrance to the cafeteria. Closed on weekends. Menus are posted here.

The Luther Seminary Bookstore is an excellent source of theological classics, biblical material, devotional and liturgical helps, and current works on religion and faith. 

The bookstore is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday; open some Saturdays from 10 a.m.1 p.m.

When classes are in session during the school year, students, faculty, staff and visitors gather daily for chapel at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of the Incarnation in the Olson Campus Center. During summer (June, July and August) worship is held in the Chapel of the Cross in Northwestern Hall. The Eucharist is celebrated every Wednesday.

The bank utilized by the seminary, Park Midway Bank, is located on Como Avenue, a few blocks south of campus.

Full Mail Service

There is a United States Post Office located on Como Avenue in St. Anthony Park, just south of campus.

Grocery Store

A small food store, "Speedy Market", is located at the intersection of Como Avenue and Doswell Street, one block south of campus, in St. Anthony Park. Food, produce, baked goods, cleaning/laundry supplies and some personal care items are available. Speedy Market also has a deli. There is also a Cub Foods in the Har Mar Mall on Snelling. The Hampden Park Co-op is located at Raymond Ave. and W.  Hampden Ave. only a couple miles from the seminary.

Houses of Worship

The Twin City area offers a wide variety of worship opportunities. Located in close proximity (walking distance) to the seminary campus are congregations of Lutheran, Episcopal, United Church of Christ and United Methodist denominations.

Local Transportation

Luther Seminary is accessible from Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport by taxi service, shuttle service and and by light rail and city bus—Metropolitan Transit Commission (MTC).

The seminary is located along MTC bus route #3 and very near a transfer point that connects bus service to both the city of St. Paul and the city of Minneapolis. Service along these routes operates seven days a week. Fare and schedule information may be obtained by telephoning the MTC at 612-373-3333. There are also bus route information pamphlets available at the Information Desk in the Campus Center.
