Celebration of Biblical Preaching

2012 Celebration: Preaching the Story
Luther Seminary, St. Paul, Minn.
Oct. 1-3, 2012

Whether we are prepared to admit it or not, many in our congregations do not know the biblical story. How much of our preaching do they really understand? Further, how much does the Christian story shapes their everyday lives, and how likely are they to share a story they don't know with those around them? For this reason, teaching and preaching the story becomes perhaps the great challenge for this generation of preachers, and we are eager to help you meet that challenge with equal measures of courage, creativity, and confidence. Join us as we explore how best to preach the old, old story for a new day and age.

Speakers:

  • Rolf Jacobson, Associate Professor of Old Testament, Luther Seminary
  • Barbara Lundblad, Joe R. Engle Professor of Preaching, Union Theological Seminary, New York
  • Michael Curry, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina, based in Raleigh, NC
  • Jana Childers, Professor of Homiletics and Speech Communications, San Francisco Theological Seminary
