2014: Preaching as Divine and Human Drama

Each week preachers have the opportunity to immerse their hearers in the divine drama of God's activity to save the world God loves so much. It is a story of peril and beauty and courage and grace. But do we approach the pulpit seeking to immerse our hearers in its plot line, or do we offer them only religious information instead? Participants at the 2014 Celebration of Biblical Preaching reclaimed preaching as the means by which to invite their people not just to witness this story but to take up their part in the ongoing drama of God's work to love, save and bless the world.

Speakers:

    • Anna Carter Florence, Peter Marshall Associate Professor of Preaching, Columbia Theological Seminary
    • Frank A. Thomas, Nettie Sweeney and Hugh Th. Miller Professor of Homiletics, Christian Theological Seminary
    • Grace Imathiu, Lead Pastor, Community United Methodist Church
