Gods Gym Fitness Center
After nearly two months of renovation in 2001, Luther Seminary reopened its new and improved fitness center, God’s Gym, located on the lower level of Stub Hall.
"This campus has certainly been known worldwide for its spiritual work and its mental work," said project consultant Dan Halvorson. "Our hope with this facility is to work toward the body, mind, spirit ideal."
The renovation involved tearing down walls in order to turn two rooms into one, new carpet, new paint, a large mirror, a shower and locker area as well as new equipment. The gym has added a multi-station universal gym, a squat rack, an exercise bike and two elliptical trainers that simulate a cross-country skiing motion while minimizing joint impact. The gym already had several treadmills, one exercise bike, a small universal machine, a bench press and a set of free weights. In addition to the new equipment, the seminary hopes to occasionally have trainers from the University of Minnesota on hand to help maximize the facility’s potential.
