Departures from approved software and hardware peripherals
Permission for items not listed should be requested with a justifying need to Network Services and may be referred to the Learning Systems and Technology Committee who will review the request and determine how Luther Seminary can best meet any justified need with a new standard peripheral or software program. This policy seeks to balance flexibility and innovation with a recognition that staffing is limited.
Faculty and staff who request and receive permission to depart from the above approved list of hardware and software do so at their own risk and under the following limitations:
-
Items not on the approved list will not receive support from Network Services technicians or other LS support staff.
-
If installation of non-approved items creates a conflict with approved peripherals and software, the installation will be removed from seminary-owned computers and no second attempt at installation will be made.
-
If the conflict is of a magnitude that requires a re-imaging of the computer, Network Services is not responsible for lost data or its attempted retrieval.
-
The number of departures will be limited to assure system stability. (initially no more than 1 every 3 months)
-
All software and hardware must be installed by Network Services staff.
