Cross-Cultural Education: New Opportunities Available in Indigenous Rights, Environmental Justice, Hispanic Ministry!
The Native Ministries Consortium Summer School 2014 will be held at the Indigenous Studies Centre at Vancouver School of Theology in Vancouver, British Columbia from July 7, 2014 - July 18, 2014. The goal of the program is "to empower and facilitate leadership, spiritual expression, and justice to enable Indigenous people to exercise self-determination within the Christian church and in society." The Caring for Creation Shalom Hill Farm Fellowship will be held at Shalom Hill Farm in Windom, MN from June 2 through August 22. This fellowship was established to provide a summer learning service opportunity for a student of Luther Seminary to serve with Shalom Hill Farm, an affiliated educational ministry, concerning care of creation education. The fellowship runs from June 2 – August 22. Shalom Hill Farms will provide food, housing and a stipend of $3,000. The Hispanic Ministry Summer Term will be held at Luther Seminary Program in the Southwest (LSPS) in Austin, TX from May 25 2014 - July 2, 2014. The program is "designed for ELCA seminary students to develop leadership skills in Hispanic Ministry and build a network of colleagues who share this commitment."
The first week involves students in the LSPS Spanish Language and Hispanic Ministry intensive. Weeks 2 through 6 consist of a weekly seminar with Prof. Jay Alanis and several outstanding guest instructors and contextual education in teaching parishes where students engage in Hispanic ministry under the guidance of supervising pastors.
Tuition is $4860, which includes an administrative fee of $600. Full scholarships are available to cover the total tuition cost of the summer term for ELCA students. A non-refundable housing deposit of $200 is due by April 30, 2014. You will get credit through Luther Seminary.
