Finishing Up Internship? Save the Date for September Reflection Event!

Are you finishing up internship? Watch this space! Every September, returning interns participate in a reflection event with members of the Contextual Learning staff. This event seeks to encourage interns to put some closure to the internship year and assess the meaning of the internship year so that it can inform the student's last year(s) at seminary prior to ordination and call. This September's reflection event will be Wednesday September 9. We'll be posting more details in the months to come!

Preparing for Internship? A Few Reminders!

Are you preparing for internship? Don't forget these important reminders regarding Internship Orientation, travel, and our policies for the 2015 - 2016 internship year!

First, registration for our Summer Internship Orientation Workshop (FE 0200) is open! FE 0200 is offered as a full-day workshop on two occasions: once back on January 31, 2015 and now again on June 13, 2015.

  • Because the workshops are scheduled in proximity to the January and June intensives, our expectation is that all future interns

Finishing Up or Beginning CPE? Don't Forget!

Are you finishing CPE? Congratulations! As you see on our website and on all CPE coursepages, to receive credit for completion of this pass/fail course, you will turn in a copy of both the CPE supervisor’s and your final evaluation to the Office of Contextual Learning. Your supervisor's evaluation is prepared by your supervisor. Your self-evaluation is the written assignment that you are assigned at the end of the unit. During the workshop, the Contextual Learning staff will cover expectations and responsibilities of serving as an internship supervisor, including a special panel and evening dinner presentation.

New Internship Handbook for 2015 - 2016

You spoke and we listened! In addition to our new website and programmatic updates for the upcoming academic year, we are now happy to share our brand-new Internship Handbook for 2015 - 2016. Our Internship Handbook includes an FAQ featuring your most common questions, updated policies regarding pets, social media, travel, moving expenses and more, and plenty of details about the work and joy of internship. Internship Cluster Schedule

Twice per year in the fall and spring, all Internship supervisors and pastoral interns around the country are hosted by the nearest ELCA seminary for something called the "cluster meeting." At the cluster meeting, supervisors and pastoral interns enjoy a chance to meet, talk, ask questions, provide feedback, and learn from other partners in the Internship experience.
