Congregation Description:Prince of Peace is a congregation of dedicated members working together to advance the Mission of the Church. Music has always played a big part in the life of this congregation and this continues today with active Senior and Childrens Choirs along with a wonderful Bell Choir and the Sonrise Band that leads our contemporary service.

Children and Family Ministries along with our Youth Ministries continue to be an important part of this congregation's ministry.

Our member's dedication, love and support for the needs of Prince of Peace and our community are evident in the number of ministries and programs that we provide.

We are located along a busy highway, with a future mass transit corridor, that provides us with great visibility, our church facilities are handicap accessible, and very functional. We have recently installed a beautiful 50th Anniversary Memorial Window which signifies Christ's outstretched arms welcoming all to our house of worship.

Under the leadership of our current senior pastor, we have experienced major staffing transitions and a renewed passion and strategic vision for our mission and ministry.

In the past 13 months we have sent two mission teams from our congregation to serve at an orphanage in Jamaice and two more teams traveled to Tanzania where we have significant ministry partnerships.

Our members are excited about the future, knowing that the gifts that God has given us will allow us to again be a growing church community within the city of Brooklyn Park and beyond.
Congregation Keywords:Prince of Peace is located in an increasingly diverse, first ring suburb which is really a large city in itself. This is a congregation in transition, with a redevelopment posture. After a decade of decline, there are significant and tangible reasons to be optimistic about the future the Lord is calling us into as a community of faith in Christ.

Autobiography:I grew up in Bloomington Minnesota. I have been married to my lovely wife Lori for 20 years and we have been blessed with two daughters. Lydia is 15 and Clara is 12.

My first call was to an inner-city congregation in Philadelphia. After four challenging and rewarding years there, I accepted the call to serve a struggling rural congregation in a suburbanizing context in Chester County, PA. That ministry evolved into a vibrant multi-staff congregation which completed several major expansions and successful capital campaigns. After 17 years leading St. Matthew's in Chester Springs, PA, I accepted the call to lead Prince of Peace.

The congregation of PoP has experienced significant declines in membership and resources for ministry in the past decade. This kind of redevelopment ministry is where my call and gifts for ministry are best leveraged for the church.

I also have a strong commitment to experiential global ministry and I am grateful for our congregation's growing commitment to this aspect of our outreach.

I attend continuing education events and conferences each year at locations around the country. I am particularly interested in exploring issues related to the changed and changing context for congregational ministry.

I am active in sports and love the outdoors, especially "up north" in Ely, MN where we spend our summer vacation nearly every year.
