Arrived safely with only a couple minor hiccups...God is good!

At about 8:00pm China time (6:00am CST), our plane safely landed in the Hong Kong airport. It was a very long flight, but a good flight nonetheless.

The most beautiful part of the flight was when we were over Siberia. There was enough light to see mountains of snow and ice, frozen rivers and their tributaries, and then later the most glorious sunset I have ever witnessed.

When we arrived last night, the weather was in the high 50s, but this morning it is just a little cold, kind of like a brisk Summer morning.

We are very thankful that everything has gone relatively smoothly so far. -One person forgot a bag at home which had to be retrieved; Red wine was spilled on my pants (the flight attendant gave me white wine to take it out - who knew?) - followed by a glass of water (I still love my wife!); One person's luggage lost a wheel; We almost didn't get off the bus at the correct spot (we were all so exhausted); Of the 3 taxis that we took to get to the retreat center, 1 of them did not get there with the rest, but they eventually arrived safely.

We met Pr. John Lemond at the airport and he got us all to the Tao Fong Shan Service Unit (Retreat Center). Even at night we could see that the buildings and the grounds are just beautiful. I can't wait to see them in full light. (The sun is just now beginning to rise at 7am.)

An interesting coincidence: Pr. Lemond and this center used to receive support from one of the churches in my home town: Moe Lutheran Church, Roseau, MN. He said that he has been up north to Roseau a number of times.

God has been with us and has been gracious. Please continue to lift us in prayer as we make our way around China!

Peace,

Beau Nelson
