Description:
The New City Parish (NCP) is a dynamic coalition of nine urban congregations in the greater Los Angeles area.  They offer a participatory three week immersion in multi-cultural, neighborhood-based ministry. The experiential learning program explores a cross section of the dynamic ethnic diversity of Los Angeles and includes 1) an introduction to the diverse ministries of the nine parishes; 2) opportunity to hear first hand from numerous people and organizations who work for economic justice in South LA; 3) daily Spanish lessons, given by visiting instructors from CETLALIC language school in Cuernavaca, Mexico; 4) participatory practice in the educational methodology of Paulo Freire. Participants live and share meals with Spanish-speaking families from the NCP.

More information and syllabi may be found on New City's website: www.newcityparish.org/metroministrytraining.html

Please note that students will participate in both the one week Ministry in the City and the two week Multicultural & Spanish Language Immersion courses, for a total of a 3 week course.

Registration Closed.
