Test #4 will consist of two parts.  In part one, you will be asked to write out the complete paradigm of the Qal imperfect of the root rm$ in both Hebrew and English.  You will need to know all of the prefixes, suffixes and vowel pointing, including accents, the proper order of the paradigm (third to first person), and the proper translation of each part of the verb.

            In part two, you will be given a number of sentences to translate from Hebrew to English.  All of the sentences will be taken from Exercises 10-15 from the Hebrew Exercises.  You will be permitted to use the vocabulary sheets, the overhead book, and all of Kelly in class.  You cannot use the Throntveit exercise book or the translations.

 

Test #4 will place emphasis on the following:

 

1. Remembering the perfect verb.  You will need to review this paradigm so that you     recognize the various suffixes and pointing.

 

2. Knowing the paradigm of the Qal imperfect verb and being able to translate it

 

3. Recognizing and translating the cohortative (don’t worry about the jussive)

 

4. Correct translation of the perfect and imperfect with the Vav consecutive (conversive)

 

5. Recognizing and translating the directive hf  .

 

6. Recognizing and translating imperatives and negative commands.

 

7. Recognizing and translating both the infinitive absolute and the infinitive construct.

 

8. Recognizing and translating the participle.
