5. Know the 5 gutterals and their 2 characteristics (no dagesh; no simple sheva)

6. Know the two types of dagesh (lene, forte) and what they do (include simplest rules)

7. Know the simple sheva, silent and vocal, and the simplest rules

8. Know the name and function of the metheg, maqqef, and mappiq.

9. Begin the process of recognizing syllables as open or closed.
