Luther Seminary is pleased to announce that the Rev. Timothy Coltvet has been appointed to the position of director of contextual learning at Luther Seminary.
Coltvet received his undergraduate degree in religion from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn. He then came to Luther Seminary, where he received his Master of Divinity degree with an emphasis in youth and family ministry. Upon graduation, he served as associate pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stillwater, Minn., and at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church in Plymouth, Minn. In 2008, Coltvet joined Luther Seminary as the coordinator of contextual learning and coaching for the children, youth and family program.
Rolf Jacobson, associate professor of Old Testament and head of the search committee for the position, remarked, “Tim already has significant experience recruiting internship sites, equipping internship supervisors and working alongside interns … It is urgent that our contextual learning experiences be deeply reshaped by our curricular commitments and be integrated into the curriculum. The search committee believes that Tim is by far the best candidate to achieve this.”
Coltvet is passionate about contextual learning as an essential component of students’ learning experiences. He is known as an enthusiastic leader, a caring person and a highly collaborative and creative individual. As the contextual learning group continues to equip students for their vocations, Coltvet will bring new ideas, wisdom and excitement to this important educational arena.
