On Oct. 3, Luther Seminary will welcome musical duo Lost And Found as guests of the Aus Memorial Lecture. The concert will be held at 7 p.m. in the Olson Campus Center’s Chapel of the Incarnation. It will be held during Working Preacher Presents: The Craft of Preaching. The lecture is free and open to the public.
The members of Lost And Found, Michael Bridges and George Baum, have been traveling around the world performing concerts of their original music since they were in high school. They started their musical tours by riding bicycles coast to coast and performing on borrowed instruments wherever they were welcomed. They continue to encourage all who hear them to “do what you can with what you have for the glory of God,” making their unique sound with just two instruments and their voices. Their concerts are interactive, driven by the audience. Each show is different—always spontaneous, improvisational and musical, and often poignant and funny.
Some have said their music is “acoustic thrash” or “Speedwood.” Some have called it “heavy mental,” owing to all the lyrical content in each three-minute song. However you choose to characterize the sound, if you see these guys play, you’ll find that all are welcome, that strangers become friends at the concerts and that the music of faith is fun.
The Aus Memorial Lecture was established in 1978 and focuses on evangelism. The lecture series is in memory of George Aus, a prominent evangelist and professor of systematic theology at Luther Seminary from 1939 to 1973.
