Preachers and presenters everywhere are counting down the days to May 15 when the Festival of Homiletics begins in San Antonio. There is still time to register and attend. This year the theme is “Preaching on the Borders,” and the festival will run from May 15-19.
Over these five exciting days preachers will not only hear from world-class presenters like Will Willimon, Walter Brueggeman and Anna Carter Florence, but they will experience the fun and fellowship of being with nearly 2,000 other preachers. A variety of workshops, worship times, and lectures will present a diverse array of preaching styles and methodologies to inspire and renew attendees. There will also be time to explore San Antonio’s cultural delights and international cuisine. In addition to the famous Tex-Mex flavors, San Antonio offers everything from German bakeries to French bistros and Italian trattorias.
One past attendee shared, “As always, I feel the most valuable part of attending the Festival is to be refreshed by hearing other voices carry the Word of God – and being ‘ministered to,’ instead of ministering. I enjoy hearing each speaker’s interpretation of what scripture means to him/her and how he/she presents that interpretation to ‘us.’ I leave energized, renewed, and stirred by what I have experienced all week.”
