This summer Luther Seminary alum Dan Hanson participated in a two-week program to study professional ethics in Germany and Poland. He was chosen by the Fellowships at Auschwitz for the Study of Professional Ethics (FASPE) as one of 63 participants from a competitive pool of almost 1,000 applicants.
Hanson is currently serving as a pastor at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hampton, Iowa. He graduated from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in history and religion, and received his M.Div. from Luther Seminary in 2016.
Hanson says, “For me, FASPE is a once in a lifetime opportunity to discern with other leaders of faith how it is we are called to be leaders in our communities concerning ethical and human rights issues of our current time.” He continues, “I see this opportunity to study with other faith leaders as an invaluable experience to learn together how best to work for justice and peace in the world. I am excited to see how FASPE will challenge me to grow as a leader.”
