Telling the old, old story is the vocation of Christians. But whether or not we are prepared to admit it, many in our congregations do not know the biblical story.
Teaching and preaching the story is the great challenge for this generation of preachers. On Oct. 1-3, the Celebration of Biblical Preaching will help today's pastors and lay people meet that challenge with courage, creativity and confidence.
This three-day conference will explore how best to preach the old, old story for a new day and age. The Celebration will feature some of the foremost scholars and preachers in the field. Luther Seminary's Rolf Jacobson, associate professor of Old Testament, will lead the conference's worship service and a plenary.
Attendees will learn about this year's theme, Preaching the Story, through illuminating lectures, chapel services and workshops. Workshops will focus on topics like visual preaching and telling the story to multicultural congregations.
Registration for the full event is $235 and includes the cost of lunch. Options to attend a portion of the conference are also available.
Matthew Skinner, associate professor of New Testament at Luther Seminary, will teach a review lectionary study on the Gospel of Luke after the closing of the conference on Oct. 3. We welcome you to stay for this event!
