“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.”—Psalm 107:1
As we look toward the start of a new school year, I am thankful for an abundance of God’s gifts. Like the air we breathe, we have the ongoing assurance of God’s grace and the gift of eternal life. However, I can get caught up in the busyness or challenges of life, and lose sight of the incredible gifts I’ve been given. I imagine you can do the same. The summer months give us a chance to refresh our minds, renew our spirits and remember the many gifts God has given us.
I’m trying to take a bit more time this summer to reflect on God’s gifts in my life. I invite you to do the same. I have a long personal list; I hope you do too. As an E-lert recipient, you clearly care about what is happening at Luther. So in addition to our various personal “thank you, Lord” lists, I will presume you share my deep gratitude for:
- curious students willing to respond to God’s call to serve
- generous donors who continually pray for, encourage and support these students as they prepare for their service here at Luther
- talented and dedicated faculty who share their wisdom and knowledge to educate future leaders for Christian communities
- a committed staff who work tirelessly to uphold the mission of Luther Seminary
I thank God for you all.
Take care,
Rick
