Faith Mennonite Church (FMC) seeks a person to fill a part-time (12 hours per week) Ministry Staff Position. The focus of this position is to extend the ministry of FMC into the surrounding community with a particular emphasis on peacemaking. This position will involve:
1) working with the congregation in our outreach programs with the community, for example the annual community forum, a peace-themed summer program for children, and periodic neighborhood gatherings
2) working with the FMC Missions & Service Commission to develop and implement these projects
3) working with individuals in the church to discern gifts in relationship to our outreach program
4) serving as a liaison to community organizations and churches who might be collaborators on said projects.
This position will be directly supervised by the pastor and church moderator and will report to the Missions & Service Commission and the Church Council. This is a one-year position. Compensation will be commensurate with experience within the church’s wage guidelines.
The ideal candidate will be someone who
a) is committed to the Mennonite/Anabaptist perspective of biblical peacemaking,
b) has strong written and oral communication skills,
c) combines the skills of creative visioning and practical, organizational work, and
d) is willing to be involved in the congregational life of Faith Mennonite Church,
attending Sunday worship at least once per month.

The Direct Action & Research Training (DART) Center is currently accepting resumes from alums and spring graduating Luther students interested in social and economic justice issues for their paid, four-month community organizing training program known as the DART Organizers Institute.
The DART Center has built non-partisan community organizations throughout the country that have won important improvements on a broad set of issues affecting low-moderate income people including:
· Education reform in low-performing public schools
· Job Training
· Drugs and Violence
· Affordable Housing
· Criminal Recidivism
· Neighborhood Revitalization, etc.
The DART Organizers Institute starts July 18, 2010 and combines a 7-day classroom with 15-week field training. Organizer Trainees will learn such things as:
· Entering a community
· Identifying and training local leaders
· Strategic planning and issue cutting
· Relationship and community building
· Direct Action on community issues
· Fundraising
This is a paid training program designed to promote successful graduates into permanent salaried positions making up to $35,000/year in starting salaries, plus benefits. Graduates from the DART Organizers Institute have gone onto accept Executive Director and Associate Community Organizing positions throughout the country. We continue to train the best of those working to build the power of low-moderate income neighborhoods to win victories on important issues in their community.

We live 1.5 miles from Luther Seminary and are looking for regular care for our wonderful 3,5, and 8 year old. About 20 hours per week from January to the end of the school year. No evening/night work, only weekdays. You can bring your child if you like, though there is occasional driving required. We have a reference from a current Seminary family.
