Associate Professor of Preaching  

Carol Miles joined Luther Seminary in 2005 as associate professor of preaching. Previously she was assistant professor of homiletics at Austin Theological Seminary, Austin, Texas, since 1999.

Miles received the bachelor of arts degree from the University of Californiaâ€"Berkeley, in 1983.  She earned her master of arts from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, in 1986.  She received her master of divinity (1991) and doctoral (2000) degrees from Princeton Theological Seminary, Princeton, N.J. She was ordained by the Presbyterian Church (USA) in 2000.

Miles also served as an instructor for Princeton Theological Seminary, Harbor House/Lao Family Community, Oakland, Calif., and the American Language Institute, University of Southern California, Los Angeles.

Miles is a frequent lecturer and preacher.  She has authored “And Your Daughters Shall Prophesy: Preaching as Women’s Work,” from Insights: The Faculty Journal of Austin Seminary, Spring 2004; and “Roping the Golden Calf,” sermon in Cloud of Witnesses: An Audio Journal on Youth, Church and Culture, vol. 6, Spring 2004, Princeton Theological Seminary Institute for Youth Ministry.

She is a member of the American Academy of Religion/Society of Biblical Literature and the Academy of Homiletics.
