Students who have received Federal Stafford Loans, Federal
Perkins Loans or the Luther Seminary Mourer Loan are required to
complete exit counseling.
- Federal Stafford/Grad PLUS Loans - Student who received Federal
Stafford Loans while attending Luther seminary may complete the
exit counseling requirement one of two ways. Students may
complete the process online by going to
www.luthersem.edu/loancounsel and following the links for
"Exit Counseling". The Office of Financial Aid will be
notified via email for each student that completes the online
process. Students may also request to meet with the Director
of Financial Aid to complete this requirement. This is the
preferred method. During an in office appointment students
will be provided with a complete summary of all their student
loans, this will include loans received at other schools.
The information will be in much greater detail than the online
version.
- Federal Perkins Loans - Student who received Federal
Perkins Loans while attending Luther seminary may complete the

- Mourer Loans - Students who received a Mourer Loan
while attending Luther Seminary are required to attend an
in-office exit counseling session. Because of the partial
forgiveness of the Mourer Loan there are a number of details that
need to be covered.
The Office of Financial Aid encourages all students to complete
their exit counseling with an appointment with the Director of
Financial Aid. Much more information can be covered and the
appointments are tailored to each students needs. To make an
appointment please contact the Office of Financial Aid at
finaid@luthersem.edu.
If at anytime you are having a problem with your student loan
lender please feel free to contact our office. We want to be
a resource to you even if the issue is not with Luther Seminary or
our Servicer. We may be able to assist with issues and
provide current information about your student loans.
- Perkins Borrowers - Students who have borrowed under
the Federal Perkins Loan program should be making their payments
to University Accounting Service (UAS). Checks will be
made payable to "Luther Seminary" but sent to UAS. The

- Mourer Borrowers - Students who have borrowed under
the Luther Seminary Mourer Loan program should be making their payments

If at any time you are having difficulties making your

Remember that if you are serving in "ministry" Luther
Seminary will cancel up to half your Mourer loan. Luther
Seminary will cancel 10% of the original principle per year for
up to 5 years. In order to receive the cancellation you
must complete and return a "request" form.
Mourer Request for Cancellation This form
should not be submitted until after a new year has been
completed. If you have questions on the form please
