Presidential Scholarship

Criteria:

For incoming students starting in the Fall term only.

The renewable Presidential Scholarship is a scholarship for new, full-time students in the M.DIV. and M.A.programs (distance learning, dual degree and transfer students are not eligible).  This scholarship seeks to identify students who embody the Luther Seminary mission statement to "educate leaders for Christian communities."

A separate application, along with a reference form, resume and interview process is required.  Students with a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher with leadership and ministry experience are encouraged to apply.  The interview will take place as part of the Luther Seminary Scholarship Weekend which occurs on February 23 and 24, 2014. 

The application deadline is January 31 and in order for the application considered to be complete, all required documents must be submitted by that date.

Richard Wallace Scholarships

Criteria:

This scholarship recognizes leaders who are students of color or students from new immigrant communities in the M.Div or M.A. programs. There are a limited number of scholarships available for both part-time and full-time students.

Along with your application for admission, you must submit a reference form, a resume and an essay.

Firnhaber Seminary Education Fund Scholarship

Criteria:

Any student who is enrolled to earn a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) degree from a seminary whose denomination shares pulpit and altar fellowship with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America is eligible to receive a scholarship from the Firnhaber Seminary Education Fund. Priority is given to Triumphant Love Lutheran Church (Austin Texas), members attending Lutheran seminaries. Any seminary whose denomination shares pulpit and altar fellowship with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America is eligible to receive a grant to support the mission of theological education. Potential uses include funding workshops or courses, participation in an international program, funding a visiting professor, independent study for a student or professor, or other program approved by the Endowment Committee. South Dakota Synod Scholarships

Criteria:

The Grannis-Martin Memorial Foundation Scholarship and Grannis Memorial Scholarship are awarded to students who are entering or currently attending a seminary with plans to work in a United Methodist ministry. Applicants must have a Minnesota connection through church, family, a Minnesota institution or organization in which the applicants are or have been involved.

REQUIREMENTS To be eligible for the scholarship, candidates must: 1. Be enrolled in an approved seminary. 2. Be planning a vocation to serve the United Methodist Church. 3. Have a Minnesota connection. 4. Complete an application form. 5. Have a most recent official transcript sent to the Scholarship Committee. 6. Have three letters of recommendation, pertaining to academic work and commitment, sent to the Scholarship Committee. 7. Have all materials sent to the Scholarship Committee by the appropriate deadline:

Criteria:

Awarded to citizens or permanent residents of the U.S. who are admitted to a full-time degree program. Must maintain a GPA of 2.5 or above. Must have been a member of the UMC for at least 3 years; born of Native American/American Indian/Alaskan Native parentage (at least one parent); documentation of affiliation required; be in candidacy process of ordination; and demonstrate involvement within the Native American community.
