Special Interest gatherings
Students come to Luther Seminary with a variety of other interests and needs. During the week you will have the chance to learn about these and many other special interest gatherings.
Global & Cross-cultural
Have you traveled/studied/lived abroad? Do you hope to? Wondering how can you engage the Global Church during your time at Luther? Are you interested in connecting with the international student community? Are you looking for options for off-campus/international study? We invite you to come and find out about the work of the Global Mission Institute, the Cross-Cultural Education office, and the Office of International Student & Scholar Affairs!
First Week Choir
All are welcome to be a part of the First Week choir and Monday afternoon is the first rehearsal. The choir will sing as a part of worship on Tuesday and Thursday of First Week. We will have two additional brief warm-ups prior to worship as well.
commuter or part time student?
Wondering how you’ll connect with the seminary community when you don’t live on campus or you will only be taking a few courses a term? Meet others who are managing life as a student while also engaging life as a family member, employee, and citizen. How might we support each other as we engage seminary life? Find out about resources available for students living off campus.
Ecumenical Students
Luther Seminary is not just for Lutherans! Each year we welcome students from more than 20 different denominations to study at Luther. Building community and connecting with resources for navigating your time here will be key opportunities during this gathering.
Congregational Mission and Leadership (CML)
The CML faculty and staff invite anyone interested in missional leadership, mission development, and/or congregational redevelopment to come and hear what CML is all about! Learn how your seminary education can incorporate a mission focus through curricular and co-curricular opportunities such as cohort learning, electives, field trips, our annual consultation, and more. For MA or MDiv concentrations.
Children Youth and Family (CYF)
The CYF staff invites those interested in learning more about a concentration in ministry with those in the first third of life to come and hear more. This learning track, for both MAs and MDivs, includes particular coursework, contextual learning opportunities and CYF community life (including small group cohorts, retreats, weekly lunches and much more)
Getting ready for Theological Writing
Writing at the seminary often differs from other graduate-level writing. In this session, a representative from the writing center will give suggestions for how you can best prepare for the variety of assignments you will encounter, providing resources on the topics of organization and citation followed by a brief question-and-answer session.
