Students
with successful personal financial management skills are
better able to effectively lead the church. They can
engage and motivate their congregations’ members to
think differently about sharing what they have. They can
speak comfortably about what it means to live out of
abundance, not scarcity. And they can show how faith
grows when all areas of life are given back to God.
Raising up stewardship-savvy graduates is a priority at
Luther Seminary.
Why a Fund?
Luther Seminary is committed to providing students with
resources and a solid foundation through a permanent
endowment called the Fund for Financial Leadership for
Christian Communities. The fund seeks to raise $1.25
million, which will be matched dollar-for-dollar by an
anonymous donor through Dec. 31, 2007.
What the Fund Will Do?
The Fund will support Luther Seminary initiatives that
emphasize generosity and practical financial
intelligence. It will work to:
Build Personal Money Management Skills
Effective debt management and long-term financial
goals clear a path to more effective leadership and
generosity. This initiative will help students gain
skills in money management and fiscal responsibility.
Teach Students to be Generous Givers
God’s vision for us is that we would live lives of
generosity that flow from the abundance of God’s gifts
to us. Our goal is to pair students with faithful
stewards who can talk about how their lives have been
blessed through generous giving.
Produce Stewardship-Savvy Leaders
Through course work and while on internship, students
will explore ways to lead a congregation in
stewardship growth.
