Description: |
- Be a friend to a new international student and/or that student's family.
- Keep in regular contact with the student.
- Invite the student to join family meals (special occasions, during breaks etc.).
- Invite the student to worship with you whenever possible.

Purpose: |
Introduce Luther Seminary's international students to American life and encourage the exchange of faith, friendship, fellowship and culture. The student and host family will learn from each other and benefit from this experience.
The host family's role is to provide friendly support; you are not expected to provide financial support, nor deal with immigration, visa or employment problems that may arise. |

Time Commitment: |
One year term, visits with students approximately once a month (flexible). Host families are encouraged to attend GMI events with their students on a periodic basis. |
|
Training: |
One hour per year in late summer or early fall, before students arrive. |
|
Supervision: |
The GMI office will follow-up with the host family. A written evaluation will be completed at the end of the academic year. |
