Next Day

Like yesterday's hymn ("O Sons and Daughters, Let Us Sing"), this hymn tells the story of Christ's appearing to his followers. This time, the perspective of the women is highlighted. They are completely startled by what they experience. There is no time for quiet contemplation. Rather, a surge of adrenaline sends the women running to spread the incredible news: "He is alive!"

It is virtually impossible to sing this hymn without moving to the beat. Experience the electricity! Embody breathless joy! Christ really is alive! And that changes everything!

Forbid it, Lord, that we should sit passively as we hear such astonishingly good news. Infect us with the Spirit of the Risen Christ, such that we will not be able to stand still or remain quiet until all our friends know: Christ is risen indeed! Amen.
