Graduate Research Programs
Dear Prospective Graduate Student:
The program of graduate studies at Luther Seminary stands as a sign of
our commitment to the future of theological education and
the future of the Christian church. Today's church requires
leaders; so does tomorrow’s.
The seminary prepares masters of theology, doctors of
philosophy, and doctors of ministry today who will not only
do their own work of teaching, proclaiming, and applying the
Christian tradition, but also develop the next generation of
Christian leaders.
Luther’s graduate research program invites applicants who
have the academic ability and the theological passion to
delve deeply into all aspects of the Christian faith in
order to enrich their own ministries, to present the gospel
faithfully and creatively in a rapidly changing world, and to accept the challenge of preparing others to do
the same.

Academic programs grounded in faith
Since 1995 the stated mission of Luther Seminary has been
to educate leaders for Christian communities called and sent
by the Holy Spirit to witness to salvation through Jesus
Christ and to serve in God’s world. This mission is embedded
in all of the graduate programs that the seminary offers.
Graduate programs steward persons preparing for professional
leadership in Christian communities in North American and throughout
the world to pursue their learning needs, goals and objectives. The
next generation will need confessional scholars who have all the
credentials of the academy and who also relate their scholarship to
addressing the needs of the church in a new era of mission.
