Access Your LutherNet Account and E-mail
All registered students are given a Luther Seminary LutherNet account which provides access to your MyLutherNet portal, e-mail, the learning management system, campus lab computers and other network resources.
This is also your official Luther Seminary e-mail account. You should have received information about your account with your advisor notification letter.

Web searching can be a powerful tool. A Google search is integrated into Inside Luther on the left column.
Try a search to find out the name of Martin Luther's wife. How many children did they have? Have fun!

Sign up for God Pause Daily E-mail Devotions
Looking for spiritual refreshment? God Pause e-mail devotions are short, meaningful reflections on the following Sunday's lessons and gospel delivered directly to your e-mail box. By Sunday, you'll be ready for an extra meaningful worship experience.

Financial Aid
The financial aid process typically begins after a student is admitted to a degree program. The application and process will be made available the first week of January each year.
For most students there will only be two steps in applying:

Luther Seminary Financial Aid Form
The Luther Seminary Financial Aid Application is now available in our Financial Aid On-line Portal. Once you log in you can click on "Apply Online" to access the application.
All students wishing to apply for financial aid must complete this application.

Federal Application (FAFSA)
In order to be eligible for any of the Luther Seminary's student loan programs you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Even if you think you will not be needing student loans to finance your seminary education we would still encourage you to complete the application.

Start Browsing Teaching Parish Congregations in the Summer
Teaching Parish (formerly Contextual Leadership) is a key component in your training to become a missional pastoral leader in the Church. Whether you are planning to be ordained in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America or another denomination, a four (4) semester term in a Teaching Parish congregation is a required part of your M.Div. track.

Students are required to participate in First Week, September 2-5, 2008. Please register by August 8 to reserve your T-shirt and select your activity preferences.
Students in the Children, Youth and Family distributive program are welcome but not expected to attend.

Tools for Online Access and Connections
Luther Seminary provides many tools for online access to resources. When you log in to campus computers, 75MB of network space is available to you in your "My Documents" folder. This data is backed up daily and is available anywhere you log in on campus.

Get Connected to the Internet
You have several options for connecting to the internet from on-campus. All on-campus student housing provides ethernet (wired) internet connections. This is 20 times faster than a modem!
Wireless connections are also available in all classrooms and public spaces on campus.
We also offer dail-up access for $60/year for off-campus students. We strongly recommend that you explore a broadband internet service if at all possible. Your learning experience will be much more satisfying and efficient.

As a student, you will have a personal folder on our network servers. You can keep your files and documents there and access them from any computer on campus.

Explore HomeLab
Homelab is an optional tool well-suited for students who commute, take online courses or study from a distance.
It acts like a "virtual" campus lab computer, giving you access to your personal network home drive, personalized desktop, campus library resources and BibleWorks Bible study software.
You must request a HomeLab account directly from Computer Services. It will not be automatically set up for you.

Get a USB Flash Drive
If you want to save your computer files to take with you, you'll need a USB Flash Drive (sometimes called a thumb drive.) Our campus computers no longer have floppy drives. The preferred way of saving data is first to your network H: drive and if you want to save a copy to take with you, you will need a USB flash drive.

Purchase a Laptop
In the student survey we took in May of 2006, almost a third of the respondents indicated they would buy a laptop within the next 12 months. We are recommending a laptop offered by HP to faculty, staff and students through their academic purchase program.

Open Office is a free, open-source suite that Luther Seminary has installed on all campus computers as a secondary office suite. Luther Seminary is considering standardizing on Open Office for students in the next year or two.

Anti-Virus Software
Luther Seminary recommends Norton Anti-Virus software and provides a yearly subscription for $5 per year, payable at the end of each summer.

Anti-Spyware Software
Spyware is software that is secretly installed on your computer and that monitors use of the computer in some way without your knowledge or consent. Spyware can also gather information about e-mail addresses and even passwords and credit card numbers.
