The 23rd Jewish-Christian Seminar

Jewish and Christian Understandings of Suffering:
Studies in the Book of Job

Tuesday, April 8, 2008, 3:30 - 8:00 p.m.
Luther Seminary, Northwestern Hall

Suffering seems to be part of the human condition. Those whose suffering seems undeserved cause us to question the existence of any divine presence or mercy in this world. Is undeserved suffering necessary? Is it of any value?

Kathryn Schifferdecker and Barry Cytron will explore the problem of undeserved suffering with attention to Jewish and Christian interpretations of the book of Job. After the presentations there will be a time for group discussion around a lovely kosher meal and a time for participants to present their questions to Kathryn and Barry.
