Library Policies for Distributed Learners

Requesting Library Materials

Requests may be made to have library material sent through the mail. Books and videos are mailed U.S. postage Book Rate. The library requests reimbursement for the outgoing postage when the item(s) are returned. Periodical articles will be photocopied and mailed. Charge: $5 per article

Length of Loan

Books: 6 weeks (one renewal)  DVDs/videos: 1 week

Books may be recalled after 4 weeks if requested by another student or faculty member.

Obtaining Materials From Other Libraries

When materials are not immediately available in our library or are not part of our collection, often they can be obtained at or through your local library. Check with your local or regional public library to find out what options are available. This is usually the quickest, most direct route.

If it is not possible to find the items you need locally, our library can request them for you from libraries around the country. Please keep in mind that you will need to factor mailing time from the loaning library to us and from us to you as well as the return time. Again, use our online form/a> to request items via interlibrary loan.

The full-text of journal articles is appearing with increasing frequency in databases to which the library subscribes, enabling immediate access to the content of the article. Three databases to consider first when looking for full-text are:
