Postmodern understanding of existence has made the concepts of symbol and sacrament useful to describe how the church understands God's presence in life. Liturgical theology is not a theory of the congregation's services, but a comprehensive view of human existence. The course describes growing influence of sacramental reflection on ecumenism, parish life and on the understanding of the role of churches in a multicultural context. Particular emphasis is given to Luther's radical rethinking of the disruptive role of sacraments in theology and life.

  • The course includes site visits within the Twin Cities.
  • This course is cross-listed with the University of Uppsala and the Peter Fjellstedt Foundation.
  • Pastors from Sweden will be participating.
