This course centers on the spirituality of the early church, the most famous of which is Desert Spirituality. It is both biblical and theological. It is a spirituality that is ancient and at the same time speaks to us today because of its Biblical foundation. To put desert wisdom literature within its context the course will discuss its theological foundation and historical background. The course will discuss in details the Sayings of the Desert Fathers and Mothers and the practical application of these sayings to everyday life. It is a spirituality that is practical and full of wisdom. This course will include time for independent study and reflection on selected texts.
