Marriage Care

Marriage Care was developed by Bill and Anita Smith and is currently being run by Rev. John and Stephanie Nelson and Rev. Keith and Janine Pearson. The Nelsons and Pearsons have been working with the Marriage Care program at Luther for over four years and each has incorporated this ministry into their own parishes. If you have any questions or comments about Marriage Care, please feel free to contact them at any time.

Marriage Care is...

  • A small group of couples of all ages.
  • Meeting together regularly to encourage each other in the growth and enrichment of their marriages.
  • For partners who value their relationship and want to develop and maintain a strong enduring marriage.

Marriage Care is not….

  • A substitute for therapy.
  • In-depth training.
  • Another social group.

Unique aspects of Marriage Care support groups

  • Deals with preventive care, rather than crisis support.
  • Rather than being bonded by common trauma or suffering, couples are bonded by a mutual concern to strengthen and enrich their marriages.
  • Offers an introductory experience in marriage enrichment as an encouragement for couples to find ways to continually strengthen their marriages.
  • Offers couples an opportunity to gain new friends that could prove to be long-lasting.
