In 1991, after only being married a few months, moving to St. Paul and Shawn starting school at the Seminary we received an in invitation from Bill & Anita to be part of a Marriage Care group. We laughed and thought, "we've only been married a couple of months, our marriage is great, why would we need Marriage Care?" We decided to register for the group, and, if anything, we would actually get to meet some other couples.

We've been part of two different Marriage Care groups over eight of the eleven years we've been married and it's the best thing we've done for our relationship. We have developed strong communication skills that have helped us in many transitions over the last eleven years. We have made many life long friendships through our Marriage Care groups. We are now on internship in Baudette, MN and we are excited to be starting Marriage Care in our three internship congregations. Marriage Care is good, healthy care for your marriage!

Marriage Care was developed by Bill and Anita Smith and is currently being run by Rev. John and Stephanie Nelson and Rev. Keith and Janine Pearson. The Nelsons and Pearsons have been working with the Marriage Care program at Luther for over four years and each has incorporated this ministry into their own parishes.
