Getting Started: A Designer's Checklist
This is a short list of things to attend to when putting a course or course unit online.
Attention to audience.
Who is this for? What do they need to accomplish? Why am I doing this?Plan for assessment.
What are the learning objectives and what activities will measure progress toward those objectives?Who is your team?
Who will do what? Is there an instructional designer, a help desk for learners, TA support, etc.?Attention to different learning flow.
How much time/energy will orientation and socialization to the new learning space take? How will work flow be changed from that in face to face settings?Content that is "chunked."
Can material be built into modules?Interaction prepared & managed.
How will learners interact with the instructor and with each other?
