MARTIN - Online Library Catalog

MARTIN is the online catalog interface that allows you to search for books, periodicals, and electronic resources in the Luther Seminary library collection. It also allows you online access to your library account. You can access MARTIN using any web browser and surfing to the MARTIN web page. It is also located on the library's home page under Resources.

Conducting a Basic Search

Once you have accessed MARTIN, in the search box provided, you can type in either the Title, Journal Title, Author, Subject, Keyword, or Call Number as classified by the Library of Congress to start your search.

Conducting a Guided Keyword Search

Clicking the "Guided Keyword Search" tab will allow you to perform more complex searches in the catalog. Boolean searching refers to a method where you can combine keywords with a variety of other categories like author, title, subject headings (from the Library of Congress), ISBN or series.

Different search techniques yield varying results. The information under the search boxes offers some helpful tips and hints for refining and defining your search.

Viewing and Managing Your Library Account Online

The Patron tab on MARTIN's top navigational bar allows you to view your patron record, check due dates, renew items, and view hold and fine information. Your 14-digit barcode, found on the back of your student ID card, and last name are required.
