Adding and Dropping Courses

Adding Courses

The option for early registration is available for students. In addition, registration is conducted at the beginning of each term. Detailed registration information is provided by the Registrar's Office.

Students can register for courses after a term begins by making their intentions known to the Registrar's Office within the first week (5 weekdays) of the semester, J-Term, six-week sessions, and summer session. During this period faculty signatures are not required to register, unless a course has reached the maximum enrollment.

A late registration fee of $50.00 will be assessed to registrations received after the deadline period stated above. A faculty-signed add slip must be submitted by the student to the Registrar's Office for each course. Registrations will not be accepted beyond 10 weekdays into the semester. For specific deadlines and penalties, see the academic calendar in the current catalog and supplement.

Dropping Courses

Students can withdraw from courses within the first week (5 weekdays) of the semester by making their intentions known to the Registrar's Office. Faculty signatures are NOT required to withdraw during this period.

Students who withdraw from courses during the second week of the semester (6-10 weekdays into the term) will receive a notation of "W" (Withdrawal) on their academic record. A faculty-signed drop slip must be submitted by the student to the Registrar's Office. See the current catalog or the supplement for the tuition refund schedule.

Students who do not follow course withdrawal procedures and deadlines as indicated will be given a notation of "WF" (Withdrawal Fail) on their academic record. A "WF" notation is equivalent to a Fail, which may affect a student's academic standing. A faculty signed drop slip must be submitted by the student to the Registrar's Office.  See the current catalog or the supplement for the tuition refund schedule.

Questions regarding these policies may be addressed to the Registrar.
