Graduation Information

  • 2007-2008 GRADUATES:  The Application for Graduation (Microsoft Word document) must be turned in by October 1, 2007 by Certificate students, and MA, MSM & MDiv seniors who plan to graduate in the current 2007-2008 academic year.

  • MTH, PhD and DMIN students who plan to graduate in May 2008 should consult with the Graduate Theological Education office.

  • Those who have completed the Application for Graduation will be asked to complete the Graduation Diploma Memo in early February.  This form should be returned to the Office of the Registrar. This memo verifies your name, degree, graduation date, height (for gown information), and supporting congregation information.

  • Degree audits for all students who turn in the Application for Graduation are completed during the first weeks of the term in which the student is graduating. You will receive a letter from the Registrar VIA EMAIL confirming that all details have been met or which requirements are still outstanding.  Look for this in your Luther Seminary email mailbox.

  • 2007-2008 COMMENCEMENT DETAILS (for May 2008) This is this year's comprehensive guide to graduation in May 2008.  (Click here for PDF version of 2008 details.)

  • Attendance at commencement is expected.  Graduating students not intending to attend are to notify the Office of the Registrar in writing by April 1, 2008.

  • TWO courses (including all outstanding incompletes, but excluding the BPE and M.A. Thesis/Writing Project) is the MAXIMUM number of courses a student may have to complete in the summer and still participate in commencement.  Graduating students must register for summer coursework by May 1.

  • Summer graduates will have a commencement bulletin notation stating "Requirements to be completed by the end of the summer term (of the year of graduation)."  New graduation fees will be assessed if requirements are not completed by this date and graduation will be postponed.

  • A check-off list for graduating seniors is located on Inside Luther at  www.luthersem.edu/intranet/graduatechecklist.asp.
