How to Use the Resource Guides

The following guides are designed to help you plan and build effective programs for your congregation. It offers information on a variety of resources available to you through Luther Seminary. Here you will find:

Notes on selecting a speaker

Speakers listed in this guide would be appropriate for adult forums, Bible studies, workshops, retreats and seminars. Whether you only need one speaker for a single occasion, or are planning a series around a certain topic, be creative in combining ideas and individuals. If you have a program or event in mind but cannot find the right person or topic listed here, contact the Office of Communication at (651) 641-3399 or communic@luthersem.edu

Nearly everyone listed in this guide has both voice mail and e-mail. You may contact the speakers directly. To set pulpit supply arrangements contact the Office of Seminary Relations at (651) 641-3448 or lmandery@luthersem.edu. Please note, many Luther Seminary speakers are booked months in advance, so be sure to contact them early.

Biographical information and photos of the speakers in this guide are available for use in your publicity materials. Once you have selected a speaker, contact the Communication office to request these materials. You can also access biographies for faculty members online at www.luthersem.edu/facultybios

A $125 honorarium is suggested for speakers; some speakers may request different fees. Use synodical guidelines to reimburse preachers providing pulpit supply. Reimbursement for travel is recommended at the IRS standard mileage rate, or the full cost of round-trip airfare, plus meals and lodging as needed.
