Attend and learn about Church and Public Life!

Schedule for September 27, 2006:

10:00   Chapel Service with the theme of “Leadership in Public Life” with Randy Nelson preaching

11:00   Area ELCA Bishops Craig Johnson and Peter Rogness will make brief presentations on “Leadership in Public Life” followed by panel responses by area pastors, current students, and a Q & A session. Moderated by Randy Nelson

12:00   Lunch Table Talks and Engagement with Bishops, Pastors, and Resource Persons on how they practice Leadership in Public Life.

1:15   Workshops on Effective Public Leadership:

  • What is the Church's role in the Public Arena? (Craig Johnson and Minneapolis Area Synod Leaders) Dining Room C
  • Can Congregations End Poverty? (Peter Rogness, Nancy Maeker, St. Paul Area Synod, and members of "A Minnesota without Poverty") OCC Boardroom
  • How does the Joint Religious Legislative Coalition exercise public leadership? (Brian Rusche) Seminar Room #2
3:00   Workshops on specific interests or areas of Public Leadership
  • Student Advocacy 101 (LS students Andrew Lundborg and Amy Santoriello) Seminar Room #2
  • What is Church Based Community Organizing and what does ISAIAH do? (Sue Engh and leaders in the ISAIAH organization) Dining Room C
  • What is the Lutheran Coalition for Public Policy in Minnesota? (Mark Peters and LCPPM staff) Seminar Room #3

 

Fall Gathering MONDAY!!

Plan to attend the annual Fall Gathering, October 2 from 3:30-5 p.m. We’ll be meeting in the Olson Campus Center Narthex to enjoy fall goodies and mingle and mix together as one: seminary faculty and professionals.

As custom, we will be introducing the newest faculty and professionals to everyone. This is our opportunity to greet and welcome the newest members to Luther Seminary.
