John Mann - speaker extraordinaire

Friday, Oct. 13 was the first SPOT event, starring our own seminary pastor, John Mann.

Our esteemed pastor discussed systems theory in the midst of the seminary community. Since the seminary is in some ways both a work community and a faith community, the emotional processes within are intensified.

Pastor Mann discussed dealing with community issues in a non-anxious manner so as to promote clearer communication. He also shared a wonderful story from Friedman's Fables about how communities work - how even the so-called smallest person or creature has a big impact on the community.

Please make a note to attend the next SPOT event November 13 with Ian Punnett of "A Balanced Breakfast with Ian and Margery" on FM 107. Not only is Ian an well known radio personality, he was also a student here at Luther while he finished his Master of Divinity degree.

Helping others

During the weeks of October 30 until November 10, SPOT will be providing bins around campus to collect donations for the Luther Seminary Student Food Shelf and the Merriam Park Community Food Shelf (located on University Ave.).
Donations will be divided between the groups.

Please think of helping others during this holiday time.
