Thanksgiving is upon us

As the holiday season approaches us, contemplation and reflection also arise. So SPOT asked: What does Thanksgiving mean to you? Do you have a favorite tradition? Here are your answers:

"Family, Turkey, Mashed Potatoes, Stuffing and Gravy, Chow Chow and Cranberries" ~ Scott Hample

"Food: Creamed pearl onions, Red cabbage, Mashed sweet potato. Non-food: Going to church, which includes an offering of bags full of groceries for local food shelves; NO television the entire day; A post-dinner walk-off-the calories neighborhood adventure; Doing the dishes by hand, in teams: usually 2 clearing table, 2 making up leftover packages, 1 washing dishes, 3 drying, 2 putting away." ~ Kate Sterner

"During Thanksgiving my mom and I join our forces and make flat bread for the family for the rest of the holiday season. We also usually make krumkake for us to snack on while we make it. :) It's fun because we get to work together and passing on the traditions that we have set in our family for years. Too bad the spouses of my siblings don't appreciate the delicacies as much as we do." ~ Sara Hilmoe

Today's Quote

"How does one keep from "growing old inside"? Surely only in community. The only way to make friends with time is to stay friends with people…. Taking community seriously not only gives us the companionship we need, it also relieves us of the notion that we are indispensable."
 - Robert McAfee Brown
