Employee Benefits

A. ELCA Board of Pensions Benefits

See the classification chart to determine if you qualify for this benefit. You may wish to see the Summary Plan description published by the Board of Pensions regarding this benefit.

B. Worker’s Compensation

The seminary carries Worker’s Compensation insurance as required by law. If you are injured at work you must report the accident to your supervisor immediately, and then to the payroll director. If you witness an accident, get help immediately, and report the accident to your supervisor and then to the Campus Services office.

C. Unemployment Compensation

Because the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America is not covered by unemployment compensation insurance, should your employment be terminated, you are not eligible to collect unemployment insurance benefits.

In the event of your death (except if you work part time on a temporary basis), salary shall be paid to your surviving spouse or estate through the month in which death occurs plus one additional month.

K. Auditing Courses

This privilege is also available to spouses of staff members.
