Smoke-free Policy

As of June 1, 1988, the seminary is a smoke free workplace. Smoking is prohibited in all interior public areas including classrooms, lounges, bathrooms, the food service, hallways, stairwells and private offices. Ash trays are located at all building entrances.

Drug-free Workplace Policy

This policy is being implemented for the purpose of complying with federal law and is intended as a contract between the seminary and any of its employees. In compliance with the requirements of P.L. 100-690, the Drug-free Workplace Act of 1988, the seminary has established the following policy concerning provision for a drug-free workplace:

  1. The unlawful manufacture, distribution, dispensation, possession, or use of a controlled substance, as defined in Schedules I - V of Section 202 of the Controlled Substances Act (21 U.S.C. 812), is prohibited in the workplace. Employees who engage in such conduct will be subject to appropriate discipline, up to and including discharge.

  2. As a condition of continued employment, you must:

    a. abide by the terms of this policy statement; and

    b. notify the seminary of any criminal drug statute conviction for a violation occurring in the workplace no later than five days after such a conviction.

  3. As required by law, the seminary will:


    a. notify its federal granting and contracting agencies within ten days after receiving notice of a conviction; and

    b. within thirty days of receiving such notice, take appropriate personnel action

    against the convicted employee, up to and including discharge.

  4. Each employee shall be given a copy of this policy statement.
