Work Guidelines

Guidelines for work among colleagues are sometimes necessary for establishing clarity and mutual understanding between you and your supervisors, and for creating an efficient working environment. Accordingly, violations or disregard for these guidelines may result in disciplinary measures, including immediate discharge where the seminary deems appropriate, in its sole discretion. The following are examples of conduct that may result in immediate discharge.

  1. Insubordination, including refusal to accept the instructions of a supervisor or to accept jobs properly assigned in the regular course of work.

  2. Inefficient or incompetent or unsatisfactory job performance.

  3. Destroying, misusing, or removing without authority any seminary property such as tools, machines, materials, equipment, lists, reports. records, etc.

  4. Defacing or destroying facilities.

  5. Excessive absenteeism and tardiness.

  6. Reporting to work under the influence of alcohol or non-prescription drugs.

  7. Leaving the job during working hours without permission.

  8. Sexually harassing other employees, faculty or students.

  9. Lying or misrepresenting to the seminary the reason for absence from work.

  10. Falsification of your employment application forms.

  11. Falsification of other seminary records.

  12. Failure to observe assigned work hours (starting time, quitting time, rest periods, etc.) unless approved by the appropriate supervisor.

  13. Performing unauthorized personal work during normal work hours.

  14. Failure to report to work upon expiration of vacation without notice to your supervisor.

  15. Failure to notify a supervisor within one hour of starting time on first day of absence.

  16. Breach of confidence.

  17. Inappropriate attire, language or hygiene.

  18. Undercutting the mission of the seminary or the work and reputation of its employees.

  19. Violation of official seminary policies.

  20. Any incidents of violence or threats of violence.

This list does not constitute a complete list of reasons for which you may be disciplined or discharged, nor does it modify the at-will employment relationship. There may be other acts or failures to act which in the seminary’s sole opinion necessitates discipline, including immediate discharge.
